Orange County's Premier Food Hall Now Open in Anaheim

On May 31, 2014, the Anaheim Packing House was finally opened to the public after several years of intensive renovation. Described as a Spanish Revival Citrus Plant, the Packing House was originally built in 1919 during Orange County's Agricultural era.

The Packing House is actually only one component of the Anaheim Packing district. This district contains the Packing House, the Packard Building, and Farmer's Park. These are all within short walking distance to Downtown Anaheim's Center Street. Just for reference, all of these locations are located in the Anaheim Colony Historic District.

The entire building is an open space concept with plenty of natural lighting.

The Packing House concept was modeled after the world's great food halls. Some of the restaurants include Chippy Fish & Grill, The Kroft (comfort food), Adya (Indian Food), and Rolling Boil (hot pot).

It's interior is two stories, with a center atrium, and designed like vintage Americana. When I visited on a Sunday it was quite busy. There was even a decent cover band playing.

Overall, the Packing House is a must see destination in Anaheim. The building has been beautifully restored and the food was wonderful. The Packing House has been discussed in several news articles and it looks like the foodie set has shown interest. I recommend you make the drive to check it out.
