With Halloween right around the corner, I thought I would make a visit to Knott's Berry Farm's Ghost Town in Buena Park. Interestingly, this town was based on the Calico Ghost Town and other Ghost Towns across the Western United States. As a bonus, this ghost town has been decorated for Knott's Scary Farm, which is an annual Halloween event held at Knott's.
This town is pretty big and offers plenty to explore.
There is a real blacksmith shop where visitor's can see a real blacksmith working his trade.
This friendly gentleman took my camera and took more photos inside the shop for me.
Take a look inside all of the windows to get a glimpse of the old west lifestyle.
Here is a recreated gambling scene reminiscent of those seen in movies like Tombstone.
The Western Trails Museum, pictured below, if full of real western artifacts. I was quite impressed.
The curator explained that everything in this museum is authentic, except only a couple items which were recreated for educational purposes.
Visitors can see everything from old west firearms to gambling artifacts. Admission to this museum is included with the price of admission to the park.
Of course there is a variety of souvenir shops and food choices.
The Haunt Museum holds tons of memorabilia from past Knott's Scary Farm events. There are some great photos there.
Here is a small recreation of Tombstone's Boothill Cemetery.
Justice of the Peace office.
Plenty of photo opportunities! My wife had a great time!
My favorite ride at Knott's is the Calico Mine ride which was completely renovated this year. No, its not fast, just fun.
Plenty of Halloween decorations to scare the kidlets.
Just a little tip, during the Halloween season Knott's is practically empty during the daytime, so this is a great time to bypass the crowds and lines, especially during week days. During the evening visitors must buy a different pass for Knott's Scary Farm. Please check on line for details.
Just a reminder, the Ghost Town is just a slice of Knott's Berry Farm. There are a lot of E-Ticket rides at this park which are much faster and more intense than Disneyland's rides. I hope you enjoyed this little tour of Knott's Ghost Town.
